Over the years CESI has been a training grounds for local and state law enforcement officers. From TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care), police canine emergency medical training, and first responder training, CESI has been the place to come for these advanced training opportunities.
TECC
The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) training program is designed for first responders to learn life saving skills to care for patients during a mass casualty or active shooter event. Topics covered in the training include: hemorrhage control with tourniquet application, the MARCH (massive hemorrhage, airway, respirations, circulation, head injury/hypothermia) algorithm, surgical airway control and needle decompression, strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments, pediatric patient care, and safe evacuation techniques. This course is taught by advanced medically trained staff, including; doctors, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and swat medics. The course includes both lecture and hands on practical skill applications. Live actor volunteers are used for various medical scenarios; including hemorrhage control and active shooter drills.
Police Canine Emergency Medical Training
CESI has had the opportunity to help train police officers to provide emergency medical care not only for their two-legged partners, but, also for their four-legged partners. These canines play a critical role in law enforcement operations; assisting in tasks such as search and rescue, detection of explosives or narcotics, and apprehension of suspects. Recognizing the importance of these canine officers, CESI has collaborated in the development of specialized training programs that equip officers with the skills to address a wide range of medical emergencies that their canine partners might face in the line of duty.
CESI added Axel, an advanced canine simulator, to their training arsenal over six years ago. Axel has the capability to demonstrate many emergency medical scenarios that a handler could encounter while working with their canine partner. Axel is capable of bleeding, barking, bloating, air way obstruction, and receiving CPR.
First Responder Training at CESI
CESI provides advanced medical training to many different first responders. Training will cover everything from basic first aid and CPR, to more advanced skills like advanced airway management and Stop the Bleed techniques. Learners are given the opportunity to do hands on training and realistic medical scenarios utilizing the skills they have been trained on.
